Fabric Softeners

Fabric softener (also called laundry conditioner) leaves laundry soft, reduces static and makes ironing easier. In this category you will find Ecozyme fabric softener and the set with enzyme laundry detergent. The softener is designed to work with Ecozyme detergent: the same apple, peony, rose and jasmine scent, no dyes. Made in Lithuania.

When a softener is genuinely useful

Hard water. In hard-water areas towels and bedding come out of the wash rough. A softener smooths the fibre. More: why laundry comes out rough.
Synthetics and static. A softener reduces clinging and crackling.
Ironing. Softened fabrics iron faster and crease less.
Scent in the wardrobe. The scent is still there days later, not only straight after the wash.

When not to use a softener

On sportswear with moisture-wicking technology and on microfibre cloths a softener reduces performance. Do not use softener on textiles intended for children. How to wash sportswear is explained here.

How to use

Pour into the softener compartment (usually marked with a flower or star) before starting the cycle: 10 ml per kilogram of laundry, which is 40–50 ml for a normal load (one cap is 40 ml). The softener is released during the final rinse, so never pour it straight onto clothes.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a softener with an enzyme detergent?

Not necessarily: an enzyme detergent cleans without it. A softener helps when your water is hard, when you wash towels and bedding, or when synthetics build up static. The detergent cleans the fibre; the softener coats and softens it.
